A decade of being there at 3am

I'm a UK-trained midwife, postpartum doula, certified breastfeeding specialist, sleep consultant, and infant massage instructor with over 10 years of experience supporting families across Scotland, England, and now Maryland.

I've had the privilege of serving a wonderfully diverse range of families and I carry a deep passion for supporting women through one of the most significant transitions of their lives — into motherhood, and everything that comes with it.

As a clinical midwife, I rotated across departments, gaining experience in prenatal care, labor ward — where I was privileged to catch over 100 babies — and postnatal support. I've cared for families who birthed in water, delivered vaginally, and navigated both planned and emergency cesarean sections, giving me a genuine understanding of the full spectrum of birth and recovery experiences.

During my time in London, I worked with 5 NHS trusts to establish a program with 4 dedicated care pathways for families navigating loss, trauma, and perinatal mental health challenges — work that continues to shape how I show up for every family today. Since returning to the US, my work as a postpartum doula has taken many forms — from nursery preparation and those first overwhelming weeks at home, to lactation support, sleep foundations, and everything in between. No two families are the same, and I love that.

I understand that every pregnancy carries its own history, and I bring sensitivity, experience, and deep respect to every family I work with — particularly those navigating a new pregnancy after loss, IVF, or trauma. You will never need to explain yourself or minimize what you have been through.

Based in Maryland and available virtually, I bring clinical expertise and genuine human warmth to every family I work with — helping parents move from exhausted and uncertain to capable and confident.

"Having Chelsea by my side through both my traumatic and positive birth experiences was truly incredible. During the traumatic birth, her calm presence, strength, and unwavering support helped me feel safe when everything felt overwhelming. She knew exactly what I needed, even when I couldn't express it. When I was fortunate to have her again for my next birth, the experience was entirely different — peaceful, empowering, and healing. Her encouragement and care turned what could have been a frightening time into a joyful one. I'll always be grateful for her compassion, expertise, and the comforting energy she brought."

These words mean more to me than anything. Every family is different — what they all share is that they deserved support, and they got it. 💛

★★★★★

"Chelsea has been one of the greatest gifts our family has ever received. She walked through our door and gave us an immediate sense of peace and relief."

She treated our daughter like her own. She is a miracle worker when it comes to sleep — started a routine at 10 weeks and she has been sleeping through the night ever since. Chelsea is family to us now.

— Rob

First time dad 💙

★★★★★

"My husband and I are both physicians and we are incredibly selective about who we trust with our children. From the moment we met Chelsea, we felt completely at ease."

Her calm, confident presence and extensive experience as a trained midwife immediately stood out. She cared for our newborn with incredible skill and love. Having Chelsea again would be completely non-negotiable.

— Elizabeth

★★★★★

"Chelsea gave me my confidence back. As an anxious first time mom with a baby who wouldn't sleep, I felt lost."

She helped me become confident taking my baby out, breastfeeding and putting my son to sleep. Her knowledge is extensive and she is so inviting and warm. She felt apart of the family after. She is one of the only people I would trust with my baby.

— Molly

Chelsea as a new mother gazing at her newborn

Most sleep struggles don't start at 4 months — they start in the first few weeks

The early weeks are where confidence is built or lost — where feeding either clicks or becomes a source of anxiety, where sleep either becomes manageable or a crisis. Most parents don't need to struggle through this alone. With the right support in place from the start, everything feels different.

Armed Forces Advocate of the Year 2024

In 2024 I was honored to receive the Armed Forces Advocate of the Year Award at the Celebrating Forces Families Awards in the UK — recognition of a cause that is deeply personal to me, and work I am incredibly proud of.

My Masters dissertation — Operation Mum — explored mobility, separation and social isolation on the psychological status of UK army wives in the perinatal period.

MSc Science · Perinatal Research

As a military spouse myself, I know first-hand how hard it is to raise a family without a village. Six days postpartum, I was standing in a post office in Germany, exhausted and emotional, desperately trying to get my newborn to open her eyes long enough for a passport photo — because without it, we couldn't move back to England. There was no nesting, no nursery. Just a transition flat, a one-month-old, and a move on the horizon. That is the reality of military family life — beautiful, relentless, and completely unpredictable. I want you to have a supported experience, from someone who has truly lived it.

How we work together

Packages & Services

Every family is different. I provide personalized care with genuine availability — because you deserve more than a generic program.

A note on collaborative careI work in collaboration with your existing medical team. I am not a replacement for your OB-GYN, midwife, or pediatrician — those relationships matter deeply and your providers know your full history. My role is to sit alongside that care, filling the gap between clinical appointments with hands-on, personalized support. I will always refer to your medical team where specialist care is needed.

I work with a small number of families at a time to ensure I can be truly present for each one. If you are expecting, reach out now — spaces are limited and fill quickly, especially for in-person Maryland care.

The Foundation Package

From $1,950

Comprehensive support through your baby's first weeks at home — overnight care, expert education, and direct access to me when you need me most.

What's included

  • 2 overnight shifts (8 hours each) — two dedicated nights of care within your baby's first month at home. I arrive in the evening and stay until morning, taking every feed, every diaper change, and every settled moment so you can sleep properly and wake up feeling like yourself again. Your two nights can be used whenever you need them most — many families choose one in the first week and one a little later, but this is entirely your call.
  • 3 × 2-hour support sessions personalized to your family's needs — covering any combination of infant feeding, breastfeeding support, sleep foundations, normal newborn behaviors, settling & soothing techniques, burping & wind relief, and building routines.
  • Daytime support available — sessions can include helping you get out of the house for the first time, supporting feeding schedules, newborn care, transitions back to work, and anything in between. Email to discuss what works for your family.
  • One month of direct access via text and email — real answers from a real expert, whenever you need them.
  • Personalized to your family — no rigid programs, no judgement. Support that fits your baby, your values, and your life.
If a question or concern needs more than a quick text to do it justice, I'll suggest using one of your support sessions — so you always get the depth of support you deserve.

The Breastfeeding Support Package

From $600

Like learning any new skill, breastfeeding deserves patience, practice, and the right support. With expert guidance at the right moments, your feeding journey can be positive, empowering, and entirely your own.

What's included

  • 1 prenatal session — preparing you for breastfeeding before baby arrives: positioning, latch, what to expect, and building confidence before day one.
  • 2 postnatal sessions — ideally within your first week home, when support matters most. Hands-on guidance with latch, supply, feeding cues, and troubleshooting.
  • Primarily in-person in Maryland — I believe in hands-on support in those early days. Virtual sessions are available after the initial visit.
  • Flexible add-ons available — additional sessions can be booked as your journey evolves. Every feeding story is different and I'll be there for yours.
Research shows that when parents have access to skilled lactation support, 90% successfully initiate breastfeeding. You deserve to be in that number.
Additional sessions can also be booked for feeding transitions — including moving to a pumping schedule, combining breast and bottle feeding, or preparing for returning to work.

* Price may vary depending on travel time and location. Please enquire for details.

Additional Overnight Shifts

$375

Sometimes you just need one more night. Additional overnight shifts can be added to any existing package — because rest is never a luxury, it's a necessity.

Important to know

Additional nights are not sold as standalone bookings. If you're a new family interested in overnight support, please enquire about the Foundation Package.
If you feel confident in your newborn care and are simply looking for overnight help without the wider support, I'm happy to refer you to a trusted night doula service. That said — the questions, the doubts, and the "is this normal?" moments don't always wait until morning. my families know they have someone in their corner around the clock, not just overnight. That peace of mind is hard to put a price on.

Beyond the Six Week Check

From $2,500*

For the mama who has reached six weeks and realised the support has disappeared — but the hard part hasn't. One guaranteed night of proper sleep every week for a month. Because recovery is not a one-off event.

What's included

This package is for you if: Your support has faded but the challenges haven't. Your baby has colic or feeding difficulties. You didn't have support from the beginning and need a reset. Your partner is back at work and the evenings feel very long. You are simply exhausted and need someone genuinely in your corner.

*Price from $2,500 depending on location and specific requirements. Flexible start date — typically booked for weeks 4–8 but available whenever you need it.

The Bridge Package

Enquire for pricing

For whenever you hit a wall. Partner back at work, away for a stretch, or deployed. A difficult week. A baby going through a transition. Or simply a reset — because every family deserves one.

What's included

For our military families: Partner deployed, posted, or away for training? The Bridge Package was built with you in mind. Solo parenting through a deployment or separation is one of the hardest things a family can navigate. I understand that world — and I will show up for yours. 💛

Available in person for Maryland families. Pricing depends on duration and requirements — please enquire and we will build something that works for you.

Support Sessions

Enquire for pricing

Not sure you need a full package? A support session gives you expert hands-on help exactly when and where you need it — no commitment beyond that.

What a session can cover

Sessions are available in person for Maryland families and virtually for families anywhere. Available as a standalone booking or as an add-on to any existing package.

Daytime Postpartum Support

Enquire

Need an extra pair of expert hands during the day? Whether you need time to rest, recover, shower, or simply breathe — daytime support gives you the space to do that, knowing your baby is in safe, knowledgeable hands.

What's included

I am not currently offering birth doula services — but if you would like evidence-based guidance around your birth choices, options, or birth plan, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always happy to help you feel informed and prepared.

Chelsea Tudhope as a midwife holding a newborn

You moved here without your village.
Let me be part of it.

Maryland is home to some of the largest military communities in the country — Fort Meade, Joint Base Andrews, and the US Naval Academy in Annapolis are all right here. I know this community because I am part of it.

As a military spouse myself, I've navigated deployment, relocation, and the postpartum period without the support network most families take for granted. My Masters research was built on listening to women exactly like you. I get it — not from a textbook, but from lived experience.

Whether you're newly posted to Maryland, your partner is deployed, or you're simply far from home — I will meet you exactly where you are.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know

If your question isn't here, please reach out — I love to chat and there are no silly questions when it comes to your baby.

Who do you work with?

I work with expectant parents, newly postpartum families, and anyone navigating the early weeks and beyond — first-time parents, families expecting multiples, families navigating a complex or challenging start, military families without local support, and anyone who simply needs an experienced, knowledgeable person in their corner. My support doesn't stop at the newborn stage — I also offer sleep consulting for children up to age 4, supporting families through sleep transitions, developmental changes, and those moments where sleep suddenly falls apart again. I work collaboratively alongside your existing medical team and will always refer where specialist care is needed.

How do I get started?

Simply send an email to hello@confidentbabysleepco.com and I'll be in touch to arrange a free discovery call. This is a no-pressure conversation to talk through your needs, answer any questions, and make sure the fit feels right for your family.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible — ideally during pregnancy. I work with a small number of ber of families at a time to ensure genuine availability and personalized attention. Spaces for in-person Maryland care fill quickly, especially around popular due date windows.

Where do you cover in Maryland?

I provide in-person care across Severna Park, greater Annapolis, Baltimore, and surrounding Maryland areas. Virtual consultations are available to families anywhere in the US and internationally. If you're unsure whether I cover your area please get in touch — I'm always happy to discuss.

Can packages be combined or customised?

Absolutely. My whole approach is personalized — no two families are the same and no two packages need to be either. If you're interested in combining the Foundation Package with breastfeeding support, or adding extra sessions, just ask. Everything is designed to flex around your family's needs.

What sleep methods do you use?

I don't follow a single rigid method. I create a personalized plan built around your child's temperament, your parenting values, and your goals as a family. Sleep consulting is available from newborns through to age 4 — because sleep challenges don't stop at the newborn stage. Book a free discovery call to talk through your situation.

Are virtual sessions available?

Yes — I offer virtual education sessions, sleep consultations, and ongoing support to families anywhere in the world. In-person care is available for Maryland families and is required for overnight shifts and hands-on breastfeeding sessions. Many families find virtual support works beautifully for prenatal education, sleep consulting, and check-ins.

What if I need more support than the package includes?

Every family is different and sometimes you simply need more. Additional sessions, overnight shifts, and extended support can always be added on. My priority is that you feel supported for as long as you need — never rushed through a package and out the door.
